They also learned first hand about people of every economic circumstance, educational background, religious and political preference, taste level, social activity, ………… etc. This invaluable learning process continued in a civilian career including executive level service with fortune 500 companies, president of an engineering company, CEO of a consulting business, and founding a company on the stock exchange.

But as long as we’re looking back, we should mention that during those 22 adventurous years in the Army, we fought in the Korean War, built flood control works, airfields, roads, bridges, pumping stations (huge), pipelines, docks, barracks, family housing, and Nike sites. Ed also served in the Pentagon where he was Assistant Secretary of the General Staff of the U.S. Army when General Westmoreland was Chief of Staff. Our civilian career has also been varied and fascinating. Just one of many highlights was being chosen as the number two man on a team selected to plan the rebuilding of Homestead after it was wiped out by Hurricane Andrew in 1992. This team was retained, after the plan was approved, to supervise the implementation of the plan.
